Dogan Media International entered the Romanian market in 2007, with the launch of Kanal D station. It currently operates two television stations (Kanal D and Kanal D2), one radio station (Radio Impuls) and several websites such as Kanald.ro, Stirilekanald.ro and Wowbiz.ro and YouTube channels such as WOWNews and TheXclusive. Both television stations are centered on entertainment content, broadcasting a variety of entertainment and reality shows, Turkish soap operas, TV series, and movies. 

The company’s newest generalist television channel, Kanal D2, with national coverage, was launched in April 2023. 

The National Audiovisual Council (CNA), Romania’s media regulator, has awarded Dogan Media International the audiovisual licence for Bucuresti TV (formerly owned by Best Mixmedia), and the channel was rebranded as Kanal D2. In the same meeting, the CNA also awarded Dogan new audiovisual licences for Radio Impuls, whose network was expanded to further parts of Romania.

Radio Impuls was taken over by Dogan Media group in 2019 and currently has 19 licenses, covering different cities of the country (Bucharest, Brasov, Timisoara, Constanta, Cluj, Craiova, Bacau, Tulcea, Rasnov, Sibiu, Aiud, Bistrita, Targu Mures, Botoșani, Ploiesti, Câmpina, Sinaia, Alba Iulia, Câmpeni).Dogan Media International is owned by the Turkish media group Dogan. The majority owner of the company is Dogan Media Invest registered in the Netherlands whose sole shareholder is Dogan Sirketler Grubu Holding of Turkey, which is co-owned by Adilbey Holding with a nearly 50% stake and Dogan family with some 14.5%. Nearly 36% of the company’s shares are publicly floated.
