Austria: Google Austria
Overview
Google Austria GmbH is Google’s controlled local corporate entity in Austria. The company is registered in Vienna as a Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung under Firmenbuch number FN 265694b. Its registered address is Graben 19/5. Stock/12, 1010 Vienna. The company was entered in the Austrian commercial register on 6 August 2005 and has share capital of €100,000.
Google Austria GmbH operates mainly as a service company within the global Alphabet/Google group. Its activities include online services, online marketing, online search-related services, marketing services, and research-and-development services. The company provides services to other Google group companies, including Google Ireland Ltd, Google LLC, and Google Cloud EMEA Ltd, and generates revenue from services supplied to those group companies.
For Austrian users and consumers, Google Austria GmbH should not be treated as the main contracting or data-controller entity. Google’s Austrian website lists Google Ireland Limited as the service provider, while Google’s privacy policy states that Google Ireland Limited is the data controller for users of Google services based in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, except where a service-specific notice provides otherwise.
Ownership and legal status
Google Austria GmbH is wholly owned by Google International LLC, Wilmington, Delaware. The company is therefore a controlled Austrian entity of the Google/Alphabet group, but its direct shareholder is Google International LLC rather than Google LLC.
Leadership
The company’s legal managing directors are Paul Manicle and Nancy Mable Walker Buurma. Matt Brittin is registered as Prokurist.
Google’s commercial leadership in Austria changed after the previous standalone Austrian country-director structure was consolidated with Switzerland. Maimuna Mosser became Country Director of Google Austria on 1 March 2024, but reports in early 2026 stated that Google was merging the Austrian and Swiss leadership structure and that Mosser would leave by the end of March 2026. Google’s April 2026 Austrian data-centre announcement identifies Christine Antlanger-Winter as Country Director, Google Austria & Switzerland.
Infrastructure
Google Austria GmbH has historically functioned mainly as a market-facing and service entity rather than as the operator of local infrastructure. However, Google announced in April 2026 that it was building its first Austrian data centre in Kronstorf, Upper Austria. The facility is intended to support Google’s digital services and AI capabilities, is designed for off-site heat recovery, will include a green roof with solar panels, and is expected to create 100 direct jobs after completion.
This infrastructure development should be described as a Google/Alphabet investment in Austria, not automatically as an operating activity of Google Austria GmbH unless the operating entity is confirmed in the filing or project documentation.
