Gazeta Oltului is a portal of news and information concerning Olt county. It was founded in 1995 by Paul Dobrescu who remains its director. Its publisher, Shot Empire, currently has a sole owner, Roxana Stiubei.
Gazeta Oltului was a newspaper traditionally close to the Social Democratic Party (PSD). Dobrescu was involved in politics in the first decade of 2000, as the head of the Conservator Party for Olt county (party founded by Dan Voiculescu, a politician and media mogul).
