DMG Media

Profile

DMG Media Ltd is a subsidiary of Daily Mail and General Trust plc (DMGT) and operates as part of its DMG media division. The company’s immediate parent company is Daily Mail and General Holdings Limited.

Associated Newspapers Limited is a fellow group company and a publisher of national newspapers and manager of websites. Daily Mail and General Trust plc is a public limited company incorporated in England.

Rothermere Continuation Limited (‘RCL’) owns all of the company’s shares. RCL is incorporated in Jersey, in the Channel Islands, and is controlled by a discretionary trust (‘the Trust’) held for the benefit of Viscount Rothermere and his immediate family. The Trust is the ultimate controlling party of DMGT. Both RCL and the Trust are administered in Jersey.

DMG Media is a news media company focused on delivering popular journalism to a large global audience through its publishing titles: Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, Metro, i, New Scientist, MailOnline, Mail+, Metro.co.uk, inews.co.uk, and ThisIsMoney.co.uk.

DMG Media’s revenues are mainly from advertising and circulation. In November 2019, DMG Media acquired The i, the UK national newspaper and website, for £50m.

In March 2024, the UK Competition and Markets Authority gave the green light to Rupert Murdoch’s News UK and Lord Rothermere’s DMG Media to merge their printing operations. The new company will run the combined print and primary distribution operations. They stressed the move was purely limited to printing and “does not represent closer working between News UK and DMG Media on media, editorial or commercial activity”. The joint venture is expected to print more than three million newspapers a night and almost 22 million a week.
