National TV is a privately owned free-to-air television station founded by the brothers Ioan and Viorel Micula in 2003. National TV is a generalist station focused on entertainment, especially on Indian-made soap operas. The station was the first to broadcast them in Romania some 15 years ago. National TV also covers the neighbouring Republic of Moldova.
ABC Plus Media is the station’s operator co-owned by Micula twins. The brothers, who also have Swedish citizenship, are well-known entrepreneurs that own a vast array of businesses in Romania as well as other countries. They are known for their decades-long litigation with the Romanian state with many hundreds of millions of euros at stake.
Currently, National TV is undergoing a restructuring process that forced them to stop their own productions as well as new acquisitions.ABC Plus Media also owns some television channels via the company Clas Media, including the all-news TV station N24.
