Metropola TV is a television channel that initially had regional coverage in Bucharest and Ilfov county. It is owned and funded by the City County of Voluntari, a town close to Bucharest. The station has become known as “Pandele’s TV” after the name of the Voluntari’s mayor, Florentin Pandele. His wife, Gabriela Firea, was mayor of Bucharest. Concerns that the programs of this station are a “permanent electoral campaign” have been raised from the very moment the station received a broadcast license in 2020. In 2021, Metropola TV expanded its coverage to become a nationwide TV channel following the vote of the national media regulator allowing for this expansion.
